Celebrating and Cycling at Frogmary Green Farm

Posted: August 7, 2018

We held our second Summer Party on the farm just a few weeks ago. Thank you to everyone who came along to enjoy the evening with us and celebrate summer.

The night was kicked off with some fabulous live music from local Somerset band, The IOU’s, who supplied us with plenty of tunes and got everyone up on their feet and singing along. Tree Climb Adventures joined us again this year and kept the high-flyers amused with tree climbing and plenty of zip-lining until the sun went down.

Thank you to all of you for joining us and to everyone who helped us bring the evening together. The Summer Party will be back again next year. In the mean time, come and visit the farm again on our Open Gardens Day on 21st October.

Nick Bragg Canada Cycling Challenge in aid of R.A.B.I.
For those of you who aren’t in the know just yet, next summer, on the 21st June you will find me in Canada, ready to embark on a 3,000-mile cycle ride starting in Montreal and finishing 30 days later on the waterfront in Vancouver.

3000 MILES!

After my Trio of Triathlons last year, I was so pleased to be able to donate £1500 to the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution. I was overwhelmed by the support I received from everyone and the funds raised will go towards helping agricultural families in need. Completing the triathlons was a real personal achievement for me and I really enjoyed the physical challenge. It didn’t take me long to decide that I needed another challenge and one that would hopefully raise a lot of money for R.A.B.I. We’ve been working on the details of the challenge since November last year and we choose the Summer Party to officially launch the challenge campaign. A special thank you to Jenni Green from R.A.B.I and my training coaches from A.M Personal Training, who came along to help with the launch.

I will be raising funds for the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution. R.A.B.I has been supporting farming people in financial need for 158 years with over £2m in grants paid to 1,260 individuals and families in financial hardship in 2017 alone. The support that the charity provides to farming families and individuals is invaluable and it gives me great pleasure to support this very worthwhile cause.

I will keep you all up to date with my training, which has already begun with over 1,600 training miles completed. Keep an eye on our blog posts and social media channels or pop over to our fundraising page where you will find lots more information and links to my donations page. I’d be extremely grateful for any donations received for R.A.B.I.

After some fantastic summer weather, crops have matured, and in some cases died early through lack of moisture, so our whole crop harvest started about 10 days earlier than last year. We were able to finish the winter barley and then follow on with the winter wheats -all now completed and safely clamped ready to use at a later date. A slightly quieter time is giving us a chance to catch up in the workshop with machinery repairs and servicing, before we our start maize harvest. Also, we're very pleased with our bulk blowing trailer looking very smart in its new livery – thanks to Stable Design for this fresh looking design.
